Wren’s Resurgence is a new side-scrolling action title from developer Soliloquy Games due for release later in 2024. A demo has been released to coincide with October’s Steam Next Fest. It is set in the world of feudal Japan and beautifully brought to life with pixel art featuring detailed animation. Players take the role of Wren who is on a mission to save her sister from an evil tyrannical force. She uses her katana but has a range of other weapons to discover during her adventure.
Wren has many moves to help her defeat her enemies including double jumps, dashes and wall climbs. She can gain new equipment by defeating other warriors and by interacting with friendly faces along the way. There are 36 Yokai enemies to defeat, each one based on traditional Japanese folklore. With each Yokai taken down, Wren will gain more powers and upgrade existing ones. Wren’s Resurgence takes place over ten levels with eight additional weapons to unlock during the fast-paced rōnin-inspired combat.
