Alien Cat 2: The Retro Collection is the latest pixel art retro title from specialist publisher Ratalaika Games. It’s the sequel to the 2020 original and has been developed by PSCD Games. It’s out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, priced at $4.99. Alien Cat 2: The Retro Collection was originally released on Steam in 2020. This is the second Ratalaika Games title we’ve featured this week, following our preview of last week’s release, Chicken Climber. It’s great to see smaller developers get a chance to reach a bigger audience, and we’re sure this one will be another great budget retro title.
In the game, a cat and his beloved goldfish were exploring distant planets and galaxies when they suddenly crashed on an unknown planet. Miraculously surviving, they discovered that horrific skeletal monsters inhabited the planet. To escape the planet, the pair has to repair the ship by scavenging bolts and fuel from the planet’s labyrinths. Players will need to be careful, as the planet creates copies of the cat to complicate his escape. Players will also need to avoid mines, sharp spikes, and enemies.
