Amiga Format was a long-running magazine dedicated to covering Commodore’s 16- bit Amiga home computer. The magazine was published by Future Publishing, and ran from 1989 until 2000, by which time it was the last regular Amiga magazine on UK newsagent’s’ shelves.
Some 25 years since the final issue of Amiga Format was published, with issue 136 of the magazine, Amiga Format is making a return for just one issue (sort of!)
Issue 40 of the contemporary Amiga magazine Amiga Addict will be a tribute to Amiga Format, and it will also serve as issue 137 of Amiga Format itself.
We have previously covered Amiga Addict and its multiformat sister title Pixel Addict here on Retro News.
Amiga Addict is published by Addict Media and began publication in 2020. If you’re an Amiga fan who’d like to read the very first issue of Amiga Addict from 2020, then you’re in luck, as Addict Media has recently reprinted the first issue of the magazine.
Issue 40 of Amiga Addict/issue 137 of Amiga Format can even be ordered with an optional coverdisk containing the full version of X-Copy Professional, a utility that I’m sure many of us Amiga owners are familiar with from making, er *cough* “back-ups” of our software back in the day. If you choose not to purchase the optional physical coverdisk with the magazine, you will still receive the disk in digital ADF image file format, via a link in the magazine.
Pre-orders for Amiga Addict’s Amiga Format tribute issue are open now, prior to shipping in November 2025.
