New NES Metroidvania Annalog Out Now

We’ve previously reported on the announcement of The Retro Room’s new NES metroidvania, ‘Annalog,’ also reporting on its successful Kickstarter campaign, and now, Annalog is available to buy directly from The Retro Room, either as an NES ROM via digital download, or as a physical cartridge for your NES, with a choice of complete-in-box and cartridge-only physical options.

Annalog’s developer/publisher, The Retro Room describes its new game as: “a brand new Metroidvania adventure for the NES, featuring a sprawling world, mysterious lore, open-ended puzzles, and heart-pounding boss fights.” Retro Room also says that, in the game, you will:” “explore an unknown post-apocalyptic world, littered with abandoned machines that you can freely reprogram to do your bidding. As you uncover the history of how this high-tech civilization once fell, you’ll be faced with a choice: do you bring it all back? Or destroy it forever?”

And the features promised in Annalog include…

“• Responsive platforming, with tight controls.
• A free-form programming system, allowing you to solve each puzzle in many different ways. Overcome weaker platforming skills with superior puzzle-solving, or vice-versa!
• A polished experience, from start to finish. No lag, and no sprite flicker, even on vintage NES hardware.
• Battery-backed saved progress, with automatic saving between every room.
• Thirteen different regions to explore, each with its own environment and original music.
• Eight different bosses, each one presenting a unique challenge.
• Dozens of characters to meet, with thousands of words of in-game dialogue to advance the story.
• Fifteen upgrades and forty-five lore pages to collect.
• An extra-challenging, optional collection side-quest for the bravest players.
• Three different story endings.”

Other titles developed by The Retro Room on which we have reported previously have included the GBA game ‘Elland: The Crystal Wars’, its Genesis/Mega Drive puzzle platformer ‘Prisonela, and the Nintendo Switch release of its Game Boy title, ‘Gelatinous: Humanity Lost’.
