Namco’s jetski-based arcade game Aqua Jet is this week’s Arcade Archives release from Hamster Corporation, and like the earlier release of Air Combat 22, on which we previously reported, Aqua Jet has been released both as part of the Arcade Archives line and as part of the Arcade Archives 2 line. This means that as well as being released on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, Aqua Jet has also been released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
While the last few weeks of Arcade Archives releases have delved back over 40 years into the Arcade Archives, to 1984, Aqua Jet is a relatively modern title in comparison, having been released into arcades by Namco a mere 29 years ago, in 1996.
Arcade Archives publishers Hamster Corporation had this to say about Aqua Jet: “This game stood out at arcades at the time thanks to its large jet ski-style cabinet. Savor the thrill of racing across shimmering waves under the blazing sun in a stunning, resort-like setting brought to life by the “System Super 22” hardware!”
These Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 releases of Aqua Jet are the game’s first ever release on home formats, despite the game making waves in arcades nearly 30 years ago!
