Armadillo Racing has begun its release as this week’s title in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles for modern formats, following last week’s release of Syvalion, on which we reported previously.
The title of the game is fairly self-explanatory, it being a racing game in which you race Armadillos. Of course!
Armadillo Racing was originally released into arcades by Namco back in 1997, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it has never before been released on home formats, but Hamster Corporation is rectifying that as of today, bringing the rather bizarre concept of Armadillo Racing into homes almost 30 years after it made its arcade debut.
If you’d like to know more about the game beyond the title of “Armadillo Racing,” Hamster Corporation describes it as follows: “control an armadillo that rolls as it picks up speed, and head for the finish line through obstacle courses filled with unique events, or sprint courses designed for pure racing enjoyment. Finish in 1st place and you can enjoy a fun bonus game, too!”
The one-player only Arcade Archives version of Armadillo Racing is available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 from today (July 23, 2026), priced at $14.99 USD or local equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Arcade archives 2 version of Armadillo Racing, which supports up to four players, and which adds a new Time Attack mode to the game, is available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S from today, priced at $16.99 USD or local equivalent.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
Please note that the time of writing, the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Armadillo Racing do not yet appear to be live.
