Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is an upcoming action platformer from developer Dormidin Studio and publisher Selecta Play, announced in March via an explosive trailer. The developer has described Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster as a “brutal 2D action platformer” and that it’s “inspired by 80s and 90s cult classics” like Rastan and films such as Conan the Barbarian. It certainly has that look about it, and the action does seem to have everything we’d expect in a retro-styled game like this.
It’s due to be released on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in September 2026, but a new demo has just launched that gives us a glimpse of what to expect. The new demo has been released to take part in the latest Steam Next Fest running from May 15th until June 22nd.
For retro fans who like to keep things physical, the latest press release concerning the game also confirmed that a physical release for Switch and PlayStation 5 will coincide with the digital one. The final piece of news about Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is that the physical editions are currently up for pre-order at selected retailers, although there was no news on whether any collector’s editions would be released.
