The first three games in the 3D fighting game series Battle Arena Toshinden are set to get a release on modern formats in 2026, in celebration of the first game’s 30th anniversary, as we learned via Gematsu.
The original Battle Arena Todshinden game was first released by Takara in 1995 for PlayStation, as well as receiving ports for Saturn, MS-DOS, and Game Boy.
Battle Arena Toshinden’s first two sequels were Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (also 1995), and, a year later, in 1996, Battle Arena Toshinden 3. All three of these games are set to be rereleased on modern formats next year, in 2026.
The President of EDIA Co., Ltd. had this to say about the forthcoming modern re-releases of the Battle Arena Toshinden games: “EDIA has signed a commercialization license agreement in October 2025 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of “Tokaishinden.”
As EDIA accelerates its efforts to commercialize a wide range of retro game IPs, EDIA has transferred “Tokaishinden”, “Fighting God Den II” and “Toshinden3”, which were huge hits worldwide as PlayStation’s first 3D fighting fighting game, to the current models, and will deliver the memorable popular series that celebrates the 30th anniversary of its release as high-quality retro game titles to retro game fans around the world.”
