Today, Atari announced PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch physical editions for their co-op penguin platformer Bread & Fred, launching on December 9, 2026. Pre-orders are now available via Strictly Limited Games for $34,99, with every standard edition including a printed manual. The game originally came out in 2023 and has received mostly positive reviews, with players enjoying the retro graphics and charm of the characters.
The game includes many interesting features such as swing ropes and using the characters’ momentum, something not really seen since Knuckles Chaotix on the Sega 32X. There is also a single player mode for those who can’t find a friend and a speedrun option for those who perfect each level.
In Bread & Fred, players must work together to help two penguins jump and climb to the top of a snowy mountain. Players must steer penguin pals Bread and Fred through a lively climb that requires both precision and teamwork, and with the potential to fall and pull their partner down with them, Bread & Fred is a true test of collaboration and communication. Fans can pre-order their physical copy today ahead of the December 9th, 2026 launch. The digital version of Bread & Fred is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
