Castlevania is turning 40! And to celebrate, Konami has made the mobile port of the original NES Castlevania game from 1986 free to download, for a limited time only, starting from today (Friday September 25, 2026), and running until Saturday October 24, 2026.
The mobile port of Castlevania is available for both iOS and Android devices, and you can find the download links for both versions on the Konami website.
Of course, the Castlevania series is still going strong today, with an all-new 2D entry in the series, titled Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, set to be released on modern formats next month, as we reported previously, with a free demo of the game available to download from next week, as we also reported previously.
The first Castlevania game was originally released on NES by Konami back in 1986, later receiving ports to a number of other formats, including arcade, Commodore 64, MS-DOS, Game Boy Advance, and mobile, and now, you can download that very mobile port of Castlevania for free – if you’re quick enough!
Castlevania is just one of the high-profile video games that’s celebrating its 40th birthday this year, with others including Out Run, The Legend of Zelda, Bubble Bobble, and Arkanoid. 1986 was certainly quite the year for video games!
