There have been several great pieces of news coming from Swedish publisher Clear River Games this week. The retro-centric publisher has announced that the new version of Assault Suits Valken will be released as a physical cart on Switch on the 26th June 2025 and that pre-orders will be available from the 7th May 2025. In a statement on X/Twitter, Clear River Games said that the new version, subtitled Declassified, will enable players to “experience the original, uncensored version, officially translated into English, with tons of extras.”

Assault Suit Valken was originally released on the SNES in 1992, having the name changed to Cybernator outside of Japan. Then, in 2023, a new version featuring the original uncensored version of the game was developed by M2 for the Switch. This updated version included the original storyline and other aspects that were taken out when the game was released outside of Japan.

It wasn’t just news of Assault Suit Valken getting a physical release, Clear River Games also confirmed this week that its much anticipated Batsugan Staurn Tribute will be shipped next week, with pre-orders still open for those looking to add this classic shooter to their Switch and PS4 collections. The updated version includes several quality of life features such as rewind and save states, as well as a newly arranged soundtrack.
