Donkey Kong 64, the Rare-developed Nintendo 64 outing for Nintendo’s iconic simian mascot, will be available as part of the Nintendo Classics catalog for subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service from next Thursday (June 4, 2026).
In a post on its X account, Nintendo of America describes the aim of Donkey Kong 64 as being to: “help Donkey Kong rescue his friends, reclaim the Golden Banana, and save his homeland.”
Originally released for Nintendo 64 back in 1999, Donkey Kong 64 was the beloved ape’s first 3D outing, and while it’s remembered by some for its infamous, and rather regrettable “DK Rap,” it’s still a fine 3D platformer in its own right, and we at RetroNews look forward to revisiting Donnkey Kong 64 next Thursday, when it barrels its way onto the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s Nintendo Classics catalog.
This latest addition to the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo Classics catalog follows last week’s addition of five Virtual Boy titles, on which we reported at the time, and Donkey Kong 64 will be th first Nintendo 64 title to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s Nintendo Classics catalog since Rayman 2: The Great Escape, and Tonic Trouble were added back in December 2025, as we reported previously.
