Endless Samurai is a forthcoming 2D “Japanese parry-driven roguelite RPG that “blends turn-based depth with fast-paced action.”
The game has a strong retro-inspired pixel art aesthetic, and its 2D side-scrolling gameplay looks likely to appeal to fans of retro gaming. Known as Endless Samurai in English, the game’s Japanese title is “Mugen Musha, ” which translates directly into English as “Infinite Warrior”.
While Endless Samurai isn’t set to be released until 2027, you can try a demo of the game on Steam right now.
Endless Samurai has been developed by the solo developer Montblanc Hatch, who will also be publishing the game on Steam, with no word on potential ports to consoles as of yet.
In a post on his X account, Montblanc Hatch says of the Endless Samurai demo that: “You can experience battles that blend turn-based strategy with speedy action, centered around parrying enemy attacks at the very last moment.”
With its retro pixel art aesthetic and old-school 2D gameplay (albeit in a contemporary roguelite vein), Endless Samurai seems to be exactly the kind of neo-retro indie game that we enjoy here at RetroNews, so we’ll be keeping an eye on Endless Samurai’s moves until the game sees release next year.
