Flea! Leaps onto September’s Evercade Highlight of the Month

The Evercade Highlight of the Month for September 2025 is now available to download, replacing last month’s title, the acclaimed Toaplan arcade shooter Truxton, on which we previously reported.

The Evercade Highlight of the Month program allows owners of Evercade VS, Evercade EXP, and Evercade Alpha consoles the chance to play a full previously released Evercade game for free, simply by updating their console’s system software. The game then remains playable until the system software is updated again.

Flea!, this month’s Evercade Highlight of the Month, is a critically acclaimed platformer that was originally developed by Lowtek Games for the NES, and which made its Evercade debut on the Indie Heroes Collection 1 cartridge, which was released back in 2021. Flea also received a sequel on Evercade, PC, NES and Dreamcast earlier this year, on which we previously reported, but it is the original Flea! that Evercade owners get to play all 80 stages of for free this month. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this fun 8-bit platformer for free, so hop to it now!

And if you enjoy the game’s chiptune soundtrack, you may like to know that the composer, Tuï, has made it available to listen to on their SoundCloud page.
