Truxton, Toaplan’s 1988 arcade shoot ‘em up, has been released as the Evercade Highlight of the Month for august 2025.
The Evercade highlight of the Month program allows owners of Evercade VS, Evercade EXP and Evercade Alpha machines the chance to sample a different game from a previous Evercade cartridge release every month, simply by updating their system software. That game then remains playable until the machine’s system software is updated again, when it will be replaced by that month’s title.
The August 2025 Evercade Highlight of the Month is Truxton, which appeared on Evercade on the Toaplan Arcade 1 cartridge.
Truxton replaces Worms, which was the July 2025 Evercade Highlight of the Month, as we previously reported.
Evercade’s parent company, Blaze Entertainment, describes Truxton as “a classic shoot ’em up from one of the true masters of the genre,” so if you’ve never played Truxton before, and you have a compatible Evercade console, now’s your opportunity to give it a blast for free!
Toaplan have been having something of a resurgence this year, as their successor company, Tatsujin, have been celebrating the 40th anniversary of Toaplan with a number of releases, including Evercade cartridges and compilations of Toaplan games for other modern formats, on which we have previously reported.
