Geek Life: The Game is a new adventure title for the NES inspired by the French festival Geek Life. The festival, running in French cities since 2019, is dedicated to pop culture, video games, and Japanese and Korean cultures, and is now being brought to life as its own NES title. The game’s developers are hoping to release the game in physical form and have started a crowdfunding campaign that is already over 80% complete.
Geeky, the game’s protagonist, embarks on an adventure through the halls of Geek Life. He’ll have to avoid enemies, jump, climb various obstacles, and collect bonuses at each level. Certain collectibles will also unlock a bonus level. The game is also punctuated with numerous nods to the history of the festival and to the guests who have already made their mark on the event.
According to the developers, the physical version won’t be a mere retro nod as the cartridge and NES box will be designed and manufactured by Broke Studio, a renowned French studio in the world of retro gaming and homebrew productions. A perfect partner to offer the project an authentic, meticulously crafted physical edition, faithful to the spirit of the best NES releases. Those who want to try before they buy can download a demo to use on emulators and NES SD-card reader carts.
