This week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s weekly Console Archives line of emulated games from retro consoles for modern formats has been confirmed as the PlayStation version of the vertically scrolling shooter Geki-Oh ShienRyu, following last week’s release of the NES RPG Toujinmakyouden Hercules no eikou, on which we reported previously.
This week’s Console Archives game, Geki-Oh ShienRyu, was first released into arcades by the now defunct Warashi in 1997, before receiving a Sega Saturn port later that same year, then going on to receive a PlayStation port that was released in Japan in 1999, and then in North America In 2002.
Hamster Corporation describes Geki-Oh ShienRyu as a shooting game in which: “you must take down waves of enemy forces and colossal war machines attacking with relentless fury, going on to describe the gameplay as follows: “ ‘Shoot and dodge’ gameplay at its absolute peak! Counter them with your own overwhelming firepower. The game also features a variety of bonus modes, adding even more depth to the experience!”
The Console Archives version of Geki-Oh ShienRyu, which uses the Japanese ROM of the PlayStation version of the game, will be released tomorrow (May 28, 2026) on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, priced at $11.99 USD or local equivalent.
