Previously Japan-exclusive Geppy-X Shows Off New Remaster Feature

We first reported on Geppy-X, a remaster of the 1999 PS1 title 70’s Robot Anime Geppy-X, earlier this year. The game mixes traditional pixel art scrolling shooter gameplay with vibrant 70s-inspired anime cutscenes and is releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store, and Steam on July 16th, 2026. This will be the first time shooter fans can officially play the game outside of Japan.

Originally released exclusively in Japan in 1999, Geppy-X became one of the most outrageous and ambitious anime shooters of the CD-ROM era. Developed by Implicit Studios and published by Bliss Brain, Geppy-X allows players to switch between the original movie version and the new HD remastered versions. The new trailer accompanying the news of this feature certainly shows what a great job the team has done restoring this iconic title to its best.

In a press statement, Bliss Brain said. “Following the announcement, we received requests from fans who shared that they would love to see the original version of the animations as well. We agree that this is important, especially in the name of preservation, so we have decided to include a feature that allows players to switch between the remastered and original movie versions.”
