Head Over Heels is a beloved 3D isometric puzzle adventure game by Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond, that was originally released for a range of home computer formats by Ocean way back in 1987.
And while Head Over Heels did recently receive a modern update in the form of the PC title Head Over Heels Deluxe, on which we previously reported, the game has never received a sequel, until now, that is, almost 40 years on from the original game’s release! But rather than being developed for modern formats, as you might expect, The Head Over Heels sequel, which is titled Blacktooth: A Head Over Heels Adventure is being developed for the 16-bit Atari ST and Commodore Amiga home computers.
Blacktooth: A Head Over Heels Adventure is being developed by Colin Porch, who worked on the original game, and it will be published by Thalamus Digital, under license from Atari, who are the current holders of Ocean’s IP. An exact release date is yet to be confirmed, but the game is due for release sometime in quarter four of this year.
“You simply cannot believe how excited I am,” explains Porch. “Since working on the original game back in the ‘80s, this sequel has been an enormous part of my life. Over the last 30+ years, I’ve added a host of new features to give a new edge to the gameplay while retaining the core ‘feel’ of the original. It’s definitely my sort of game, with logical puzzles that challenge your brain rather than your reflexes. Devious? Certainly! But fair, too. Let battle commence!”
