Heir of the Dog is a new pixel art point-and-click adventure from developer Tall Story Games, known for its brilliant work on Lucy Dreaming. The game is coming out on PC via Steam and GOG, and on the App Store on October 29th, 2026. Those wishing to get an early glimpse can try the demo now, but if it’s half as good as Lucy Dreaming, this will be an excellent classic adventure game. We will, of course, be bringing you our review as soon as we can.
The game is a comedy point-and-click adventure starring a British toff called Cummerbund Bandersnatch. It’s inspired, in part, by Robert Louis Stevenson‘s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and the irreverent, surreal humour of classic British comedies like Blackadder and Monty Python.
Heir of the Dog’s origin stretches back to AdventureXJam 2020, when Tall Story Games created a fully voiced adventure called Hair of the Dog in just two weeks. The free game went on to attract tens of thousands of players, inspiring the studio to revisit the concept and expand it into the full-length adventure Heir of the Dog. In 2024, over a thousand Kickstarter supporters backed their vision, pledging almost £60,000 to see the game realised. Now, six years after the original game jam, Cummerbund Bandersnatch’s peculiar story is finally ready to be told in full.
