We love covering retro gaming merchandise, and iam8bit has been putting out some great gaming vinyl lately. Now, the prolific gaming soundtrack publisher has entered the digital world of futuristic compact discs to celebrate 20 years of the company. Cuphead, Sea of Stars, Steven Universe, Puppycat, and more are all part of the first-ever gaming album CD Extravaganza. There are seven different game albums available for pre-order on iam8bit’s website.
In a statement, the publisher said. “Time to party like it’s 1999! Introducing the iam8bit 20th Anniversary CD Extravaganza Collection! We’re celebrating two decades of iam8bit with a throwback to one of our favorite eras for physical media. By popular demand from YOU, we’re releasing some of our most beloved soundtracks in shiny, unskippable compact disc format.”
All the CD albums are expected to ship by November 10th, 2025, and range in price from £20 to $40, depending on which extras are included. Most of the packs contain at least two CDs, with several having extra artbooks and new custom artwork. Other recent releases from iam8bit include its Remedy collection and Rare’s 40th Anniversary album. We certainly look forward to seeing what is coming next, maybe some audio cassettes or even 8-track albums. Regardless, with CDs now being retro, we hope to see some more favourites released in this format.
