Kuiper Wanderer is a new 2D top-down space sandbox title from developer Moonage Games, announced for Steam. The developer has described the game as an “RPG about commanding customizable ships and mechs, recruiting a crew, managing bases, and surviving a freeform retro sci-fi frontier”.
The game has also been inspired by 90s anime, and from what we can see in the teaser trailer accompanying the announcement, Kuiper Wanderer has some gorgeous visuals combined with classic space simulation gameplay. The game will allow players to build their own path through space by customizing ship weapon systems and interior layouts, pilot mechs, manage and develop bases, recruit crew members, explore planets and cities, scavenge resources, trade, fight, and take on the risks of life beyond settled worlds.
Key features in Kuiper Wanderer:
Customize ships inside and out, from weapon systems and components to interior layouts and functional compartments.
Pilot and customize mechs for exploration, combat, and survival across hostile environments.
Recruit and manage a crew while shaping your own route through a freeform sci-fi frontier.
Manage and develop bases and outposts as part of your long-term survival and expansion.
Explore space, planets, and settlements while scavenging, trading, fighting, and uncovering opportunities.
Experience a 2D top-down sandbox RPG with a retro sci-fi visual style.
