Kurohi is a new upcoming homebrew game for Game Boy Color that, according to its developer, Sergio Elisondo, will span multiple genres, combining “tight platforming, overhead exploration, and arcade-style space shooter gameplay”. An intriguing combination, no?
Sergio Elisondo describes Kurohi further, saying that: “throughout the journey you will discover hidden paths, collect loot, purchase powerful upgrades, meet mysterious characters, and slowly uncover the secrets behind KUROHI’s past.”
In addition to receiving physical cartridge-only and boxed releases for Game Boy Color, Kurohi will also be released digitally for PC via Steam. Sergio Elisondo also plans to bring digital releases of Kurohi to modern consoles such as Nintendo Switch and PlayStation further down the line.
While Kurohi has already been funded successfully via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, where it managed to raise a most impressive total of $43,727 against a rather modest goal of $2,500, which it hit in fewer than nine hours, you can still get rewards offered in the Kickstarter campaign by making a late pledge to the Kickstarter campaign.
The Game Boy Color really is a very popular platform for homebrew developers. Other Game Boy Color homebrew titles on which we’ve reported recently have included: Skelost, Dark Reign, and Skateland Adventures.
