New NES Action Title Legionnaires Seeks To Build War Chest

Legionnaires is a new homebrew NES title from a father-and-son developer duo based in Germany. The game promises to be a “military-inspired storytelling and atmosphere inspired by films like Predator, a classic 80s run-and-gun action inspired by Contra, with modern puzzle design on real NES hardware”. It certainly is promising a lot, and a new Kickstarter is aiming to raise funds to produce physical carts.

The artwork for the Legionnaires boxes has been designed by exclusively by acclaimed comic artist Romano Molenaar, known for his work in international comics, including Marvel and DC Comics. The soundtrack has been produced by Radu Prado, a specialist in authentic 8-bit music, and has previously worked with us on Christmas Crisis 2.

In a statement on the Kickstarter the family team said. “From Christmas Lights to Fractured Nightmares. We are a father-and-son team from Germany making games for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. When we released our first game, Christmas Crisis, my son was only 14. Now, at 16, he has grown as a developer and wants to create something darker, more ambitious, and more mature. Legionnaires is the result of that desire — our first step into a grittier, more personal direction.”

Key features of Legionnaires:

Dual-protagonist gameplay

Puzzle-driven exploration

Brutal run-and-gun combat

Built for original NES hardware
