Less Miserables set to Point & Click onto PC & iOS

Less Miserables

Less Miserables is a forthcoming new point and click adventure game, and as you may have surmised from its title, Less Miserables is a parody of Victor hugo’s novel ‘Les Misérables.

In Less Miserables, the player gets to “explore revolutionary Paris in the company of colourful historical characters, while evading the police and finding their daughter before she is caught up in another bloody revolution.”

The player assumes the role of ‘Claude Van Claude’, who has been imprisoned for 14 years for stealing a loaf of bread, just released and on a desperate quest to find his daughter before she’s caught in a violent revolution gripping the streets of Paris. Throughout the game, the player will uncover the mysterious story of the childhood they missed, to discover their daughter’s whereabouts while eluding capture from ruthless police officer LaBleugh.

Less Miserables has been described as part ‘Monkey Island’, part ‘Allo ‘Allo, and while we’re sure the classic Monkey Island point and click games need no introduction to all our readers, you may be less familiar with the very silly wartime Brirish sitcom Allo Allo, but this comparison suggests that Less Miserables will by packed with silly jokes.

The game’s developer, College Fun Games, says that Less Miserables aims to “do for ‘Les Misérables’ what ‘Life of Brian’ did to The Bible, with legally British humour, and a modern hobo-based hint system, ” adding that “the game follows the known story tropes, but is accessible for people who never pretended to sing from the barricades or see a three-headed monkey.”

Less Miserables is fully hand-drawn, with 40 beautiful and/or deprived locations in Paris to explore, and dozens of unique characters, fully voiced by stars of Edinburgh Fringe and stand-up shows, recorded in live-improv recording sessions.

Less Miserables has already been in development for over a year, and the teaser trailer below launched yesterday, prior to a Kickstarter for the game that’s set to go live in April this year. Should the Kickstarter be successful, Less Miserables will be released on Windows, Linux, and iOS.
