Mach Breakers Gets First Ever Home Release

Mach Breakers is this week’s release from Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines.
The 1995 sports game by Namco is the sequel to 1993’s Numan Athletics, and in the game, seven athletes compete in 12 different sporting events.

As per the last few Arcade Archives releases, such as Aqua Jet, Scrambled Egg, and Air Combat 22, Mach Breakers has been simultaneously released as an Arcade Archives title for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, costing $14.99 and as an Arcade Archives 2 title for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, costing $16.99. Purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of Mach Breakers can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version for $2.99.

Even though Mach Breakers broke its way into arcades some 30 years ago, the Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 releases of the game are the first time it has received a home release, as well as being the game’s first releases outside of Japan, so that’s two firsts with this week’s release! We applaud Hamster Corporation for giving retro arcade games such as Mach Breakers their first ever home release on home formats, as well as bringing games like Mach Breakers to audiences outside of Japan for the very first time! The Arcade Archives 2 version of Mach Breakers also introduces a new “Time Attack” mode to the game.

Mach Breakers is out now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
