Marvel Maximum Collection is a newly announced collection of beloved Marvel retro games, including some real fan favorites.
The collection will include 13 Marvel arcade, console, and handheld games in total, with the line-up consisting of the following games and formats:
1. X-Men: The Arcade Game (1992, arcade)
2. Captain America and The Avengers (1991, arcade, Genesis/Mega Drive, NES)
3. Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage (1994, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive)
4. Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (1995, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive)
5. Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge (1992, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Gear)
6. Silver Surfer (1990, NES)
In addition to the games, Marvel Maximum Collection will also include a digital archive featuring high-resolution scans of original box art, instruction manuals, and vintage advertisements, and a music Player featuring chip-tune scores from every version of every game in the collection. The games themselves will also offer modern quality of life enhancements including online multiplayer for up to six players on X-Men: the Arcade Game; a cheats menu; rewind and save states; and display options such as crisp, modern pixels or CRT-style scanline filters.
It’s a good time to be a retro gaming Marvel fan, with Marvel Maximum Collection set to join the already available retro-inspired Marvel Cosmic Invasion and the previous retro collection Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, on both of which we have previously reported.
Marvel Maximum Collection will be released by Limited Run Games on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
So, until Forbush Man: the Game is announced, make mine Marvel, and, indeed, Excelsior!
