Mega Cat Studios Collection Controller Brings Retro Gaming Direct To Mobile

Mega Cat Studios has partnered with Playtiles, the electronics-free gamepad from INNO, to launch the Mega Cat Studios Collection, a limited-edition Playtiles controller bundled with seven iconic 8-bit and 16-bit games from the studio’s catalog. The campaign is live now on Playtiles and runs for 60 days, with a goal of 50 units priced at €25 each. The Mega Cat Studios Collection brings seven fan-favorite 8-bit and 16-bit indie retro titles to a physical, electronics-free controller that sticks right to gamers’ phones.

The special edition controller features exclusive Mega Cat Studios artwork and lets fans (re)discover the studio’s modern retro classics on their smartphone, with real physical buttons standing in for a touchscreen. Playtiles are electronics-free gamepads that stick directly to a phone’s screen. There’s no battery, no Bluetooth, no charging required. The phone runs the games, so there’s nothing extra to carry, and titles cache locally for offline play. Games can also be cast from phone to TV, and each Playtiles drop includes digital manuals and art books.

The Mega Cat Studios Collection bundles seven titles from across the studio’s catalog:

Kudzu (8-bit) — Adventure

Little Medusa (16-bit) — Puzzle, Platformer

Old Towers (16-bit) — Action

Romeow and Julicat (16-bit) — Puzzle

Coffee Crisis (16-bit) — Fighting, Action

Misplaced (16-bit) — Puzzle

Devwill Too MD (16-bit) — Platformer

“This Playtiles collection is genuinely one of the coolest lineups we’ve ever gotten to put our name next to,” said James Deighan, CEO of Mega Cat Studios. “Pie for Breakfast Studios, Retro Souls, and Mangangá Team are exactly the kind of studios that make me remember why I fell in love with games in the first place, and getting to sit their work alongside our own Mega Cat originals on the same collection is the kind of thing 10-year-old me would not have believed. This isn’t just a compilation. It’s a love letter to the kind of games that made us all want to make new retro games.”

The Mega Cat Studios Collection is live now through September 18, 2026, with a 50-unit goal priced at €25 per controller bundle. If the campaign doesn’t reach its goal, backers receive a full refund within one month. Orders ship worldwide roughly six weeks after the campaign closes.
