Metal Canary set to Fly onto Wii Later this Year

Metal Canary is a new homebrew shoot ‘em up that’s currently being developed for PC and two beloved retro consoles.

As you’ll know If you’re a regular reader of this site, or even if you just follow the retro gaming scene in general, homebrew games for retro consoles are rather popular these days, and we’ve seen plenty of homebrew releases on a variety of formats, but not too many on Nintendo Wii, which is what makes Metal Canary a little different, as not only will it be blasting onto PC and Dreamcast, but it will, indeed,  also be getting ported to Nintendo Wii.

The game was announced on X by its developer, Nai Adventure.

The game is set to be released on all three platforms in the second half of the year, during Retrocon 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Philadelphia on September 12th and 13th 2026.

While Metal Canary is still in development, at the time of writing all that’s left to be done on the game are a few tweaks, and the implantation of a video player.

The Wii version of Metal Canary was ported in a mere six hours, and it will be getting a physical release via Old Game.
