As we reported previously, SNK is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its run ‘n’ gun classic Metal Slug this year, and the latest new Metal Slug product to be announced is a new Metal Slug boardgame from SNK in conjunction with Pix’n Love Games.
The Metal Slug boardgame will be funded via the crowdfunding platform GameFound, and while the campaign is not yet live, and nor do we have an ETA for the game, you can visit the campaign’s pre-launch page now and follow the Metal Slug board game campaign ahead of its launch to get the latest details as they’re announced..
Neither SNK nor Pix’n Love Games have revealed much about the Metal Slug boardgame as of yet, with Pix’n Love Games simply saying: “Fun. Dynamic. EXPLOSIVE! The crazy arcade world of Metal Slug is coming to your tabletop!”
The original Metal Slug game was released on Neo Geo in 1996, with the most recent mainline entry in the series being 2008’s Metal Slug 7 for the Nintendo DS.
While games such as this Metal Slug boardgame, and the Metal Slug Rush mobile game (on which we’ve reported previously) are very welcome, surely we’re going to betting an all-new Metal Slug 8 for the Neo Geo as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, aren’t we, SNK?!
