Micro Machines-inspired OctaRace heading to consoles and PC this year

Retro publisher PixelHeart and developer Pixel Almost Perfect have announced OctaRace, a new Micro Machines-inspired racer being released to PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and PC later in 2025. OctaRace throws players into fast-paced, fun, and accessible races. Designed for the whole family, this arcade-style game offers quick sessions, instant pick-up-and-play controls, and a retro vibe that brings back the spirit of the original PlayStation era, all wrapped in a colourful, friendly, and decidedly feel-good universe.

A new short teaser trailer has been released that shows a glimpse of the gameplay, and it does seem to ooze that Micro Machines vibe that the developers are clearly aiming for. To support the development of the game, Pixel Almost Perfect is launching a Kickstarter campaign. The pre-launch page is already live, so interested gamers can sign up now to be notified as soon as the campaign begins. This crowdfunding effort will help finalise the game, make a physical release possible, and ensure long-term support with additional content and features.

  • Simple controls and deep gameplay
  • From 1 to 8 players on the same couch or online
  • A variety of game modes for solo & multiplayer sessions
  • Choose from a wide selection of iconic vehicles
  • Customise your choice with fun items and create your own pilot style
  • Embody a diverse & original cast of characters
