We recently reported on a forthcoming homebrew title for NES and Famicom called Mister Scary, whose Kickstarter campaign opened yesterday, and in under 24 hours, Mister Scary has well and truly smashed its Kickstarter target, raising more than 300% of the target amount of $2,000, raising $7,037 from 56 backers, at the time of writing.

Rewards on offer in the Mister Scary Kickstarter include a digital ROM pack featuring Mister Scary, along with two of the developer’s earlier titles: Jim & Dill 3, and Christmas Land. Alternatively, physical regards are available including Mister Scary on a NES or Famicom cartridge.

In the game, you assume the role of the titular Mister Scary, who is a purple monster who’s lost his family! Make your way through the creepies and crawlies of a strange land to find them! The game is a platformer boasting six levels, in which you defeat your foes by stomping on them, or by eating a spicy or icy snack to torch or freeze your opponents! Sounds like a lot of scarily good NES platforming fun to us! The Kickstarter campaign still has 29 days left to run at the time of writing, so there’s still time to give your NES or Famicom a terrifying treat by backing Mister Scary!
