Twin-Stick Shooter Monsters and Me Blasting Out On PC Now

Monsters and Me, the “relentlessly chaotic” top-down arcade shooter from developer GhettoCo and publisher indie.io, is out now on Steam and GOG. It’s priced at $8.99, with a 20% launch discount available for a limited time. Monsters and Me‘s story centres on a waste plant that explodes. The next day, the city is drowning in slime, and the locals are mutating. The game features 18 upgradable weapons, including shotguns, rifles, and flamethrowers, each with three upgrade levels. There are also twelve special abilities, five perks, and four playable characters, each bringing their own vibe, catchphrases, and deeply questionable survival instincts.

In a press statement, indie.io said. “Built around fast, round-based mayhem, Monsters and Me throws players into nonstop waves of slime mutant rage freaks armed with an unholy combination of weapons, perks, supers, and very bad attitudes. It’s quick. It’s messy. It’s funny. It’s gross. And it absolutely does not care about your survival rate.” They also describe it as having “fluid controls, crunchy pixel-art carnage, and comedic cutscenes packed with meme-ready moments, the kind of game that’s just as fun to watch as it is to play”. That is a lot of high praise that will take something to be pulled off.
