Pixel Art Platformer Nectarmancer Leaping Into The MIX Fall Showcase

Nectarmancer is an upcoming pixel art action platformer from developer The Beauty Cult and publisher Beep Japan. The game has been in development for several years but is gearing up for a showcase at The MIX Fall Showcase 2026, held on September 4th, 2026, in Seattle.

Nectarmancer puts a unique spin on the Metroidvania formula by making plants central to exploration, combat, and progression. Players can discover rare species, preserve genetic traits, and breed powerful hybrids to create their own arsenal of living weapons and tools. Combined with fast-paced acrobatic combat, these plant abilities give players new ways to approach enemies, overcome challenging bosses, unlock hidden paths, and navigate the Wilds.

Key features in Nectarmancer:

A New Kind of Metroidvania: Gardenvania: Grow living weapons and engineer powerful plant hybrids. Discover rare species, preserve genetic traits, and create new combinations to expand your arsenal.

Fast-Paced Acrobatic Combat: Dash, vault, strike, and chain abilities together in fluid combat. Master movement, timing, and plant synergy to overcome aggressive enemies and challenging bosses.

High-Risk Expeditions: Explore a vast interconnected world where every journey carries consequences. Death can mean losing the seeds, fruits, and plants collected during an expedition.

Engineer the Substrate: Use a living biological computer to unlock Nectar abilities, socketable upgrades, and skill-tree enhancements that let you customize your playstyle.

Thousands of Genetic Combinations: Experiment with genetic traits to create powerful plant hybrids. Every trait can offer an advantage while introducing new risks and possibilities.

Distinctive 2.5D Pixel Art: Explore a vibrant fantasy world brought to life through Ultrabit 2.5D pixel art.

Original Fantasy Soundtrack: Experience an atmospheric soundtrack featuring boutique analog synthesizers, real instruments, drums, and choirs.
