Doom was originally released on the SNES back in 1995, for SNES. Since the original Doom was released for SNES, , there has also been a fan port of Doom II released for SNES, released last year, on which we previously reported. And now, some 30 years after its SNES debut, the original Doom is returning to the SNES, with a new enhanced port from Limited Run Games.
The new SNES port of Doom promises to offer what Limited Run Games claim to be “The Definitive Doom SNES experience,” and it will include all four Doom episodes, including Thy Flesh Consumed, added circle-strafe, performance improvements, Monster respawning on Nightmare difficulty, Level codes, and even rumble support via an all-new controller, which will als be available to pre-order alongside the game!
Limited Run’s new release of Doom for SNES will be available in both a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition.
The Collector’s Edition will include a Doom gun-metal colored cart with blood splatter print and metal plate labels, a premium embossed foil box, an instruction booklet, and a 12″ x 16″ poster, and it is limited to 666 units.
Meanwhile, the Standard Edition will include a Doom gun-metal colored cart, a retro box, an instruction booklet, and a 12″ x 16″ poster.
