Fans of retro-inspired platformers may already have played Nikoderiko: The Magical World, but now developer VEA Games and publisher Knights Peak have a couple of announcements that will elevate the 2024 game to the next level. Firstly, a new Director’s Cut of the game, released back in April, is available as a free download for anyone who has already purchased it, and secondly, this version will be getting a physical print run.
Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Directors Cut features refined gameplay, expanded levels, enhanced visuals, and brand new content, including new secrets. It is available on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, Switch and Amazon Luna. It has the look of a Crash game and the gameplay of a Donkey Kong Country title, with lots of other bits that pay homage to the glory days of platformers. It also features cooperative play for those who want to double up on the chaos.
The physical versions of Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut are set for release on August 22, 2025. They come in Standard and Deluxe versions, and both will be available for pre-order soon. The Deluxe version has some exclusive content as well as an art book, CD soundtrack composed by David Wise, known for many of the classic Rare tunes from back in the day.
