Odyssey 31 is a new homebrew game for the ZX Spectrum, based on Ulysses 31, an animated series that was a French-Japanese co-production originally running between 1981 and 1982. The new Ulyssees 31-inspired ZX Spectrum game Odyssey 31 has been described by its developer Sequentia Soft (Fran Kapilla).as “the game we would have liked to have existed 40 years ago,” and “a tribute to the happiest moment of our childhood.”
One of the reasons that Sequentia Soft decided to develop Odyssey 31 for the ZX Spectrum rather than a modern format is that, “the ZX Spectrum was the computer of that time, the one we have the most nostalgia and affection for. That’s why it’s wonderful to be able to make this effort, to create the game we could never have for our beloved retro machine.”
Odyssey 31 is a graphical text adventure for ZX Spectrum, and while it is our now via itch.io on a name your own price basis, the game is currently only available in Spanish, though an English language version has been promised for the future.
With Odyssey 31 and the recently announced He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction (on which we previously reported), it really is a great time for we retro gamers to enjoy nostalgic revisits to the cartoons of our childhood via our beloved medium of neo-retro games!
