We’ve been keeping an eye on homebrew coder Shane McCaffery’s Game Boy Color fan port of Sega’s arcade classic OutRun for a while now, previously reporting on its announcement, and on the release of a demo of the game, and now, Metal Game Solid have reported on X that the Game Boy Color OutRun fan port has been completed, and a release date will be announced soon, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted on that as we learn more, because Shane McCaffery’s Game Boy Color port of OutRun is looking rather special indeed.
Shane McCaffery’s been quite a busy fellow lately, as not only has he completed his Game Boy Color OutRun fan port, but he’s also created a Game Boy Color demo of Earthion, Yuzu Koshiro’s much feted (and new) Genesis shoot ‘em up, on which we have previously reported.
And while Shane McCaffery is clearly a master at porting other people’s games to the Game Boy Color, that’s not all he does, as we’ve also previously reported on his very own original Game Boy Color racer, Hero GP.
We hope the Game Boy Color port of OutRun will be released to the general public very soon, as we can’t wait to get our hands in it!
