Pixel Art Auto-battler Paradox Tower Announced For PC and Switch

Paradox Tower is a new pixel art auto-battler from Tsukumogami Software, a Netherlands-based studio made up of two developers. Last year, the pair released Dice ’n Goblins, a dungeon-crawler where you use dice to fight monsters, which sits at 92% positive reviews on Steam. Now, Paradox Tower is taking inspiration from indie puzzle-RPGs like Tower of the Sorcerer, Desktop Dungeons, and Drod RPG and hopes to launch on PC and Switch later this year.

The studio is attempting to “expand this micro-genre and bring it to wider audiences”. A new trailer shows the great retro graphics as well as some of the gameplay elements that strategy fans will be interested in seeing.

In a statement, the developers said. “Tsukumogami Software is announcing Paradox Tower, an auto-battler RPG with a focus on resource management. It’s about following a young Witch called Eternia and her cat familiar, Bubu, through a tower made of 12 interconnected labyrinths. Grab power-ups to upgrade your character stats and fight enemies in deterministic battles. Luck doesn’t matter in this game. It’s only about optimising your path until you are strong enough to beat the monsters. If you get stuck, you can always go back in time to fix your mistakes without penalties.”
