Plump Pop is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles, following last week’s home debut of Namco’s arcade racer Rave Racer, on which we previously reported.
This week’s release, Plump Pop, is an action game that was originally released into arcades by Taito in 1987.
Hamster Corporation describes Plump Pop as follows: “The protagonists are a family of PLUMP ANIMALS. The parents control a trampoline to launch their child into the air and defeat enemies above.
With two-player simultaneous play, it’s a fun experience where two families work together to clear the stages!”
As usual, the Arcade Archives version of the game is available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD (or local equivalent), with the Arcade Archives 2 version available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD (or local equivalent). The Arcade Archives 2 version of Plump Pop once again adds an exclusive new Time Attack mode to the game.
While Plump Pop has received home releases before via Taito compilations and the Egret Mini II console , it’s yet another relatively obscure title that’s been unearthed from the Arcade Archives by Hamster Corporation.
Those who purchase Arcade Archives version on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively, at a later date for $2.99 USD (or local equivalent).
