Also released today in celebration of Pokemon’s 30th anniversary were the Nintendo Switch versions of the Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Pokemon games: Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen, as we previously reported.

There’s even more classic Pokemon set to come to Nintendo Switch 2 in celebration of the franchise’s 30th anniversary, when the Nintendo GameCube title Pokemon XD joins the Nintendo Switch 2’s Nintendo Classics catalog for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers this March.

The original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue Game Boy games were released exactly 30 years ago today, on February 27, 1996.
