Pop ’N Bounce is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s long-running Arcade Archives line of emulated coin-op titles, following on from last week’s release of Plump Pop, on which we previously reported.
Originally released into arcades by Video System in 1997, running on the Neo Geo MVS arcade system, Pop ’N Bounce is a brick breaker puzzle game that has been described by Hamster Corporation as follows: enemy characters serving as blocks fuse into a single unit when adjacent enemies are the same color.
Connect as many as possible to make them grow, then take them down to score massive points and earn power-up items!”
Pop ’N Bounce was released under the name Gapporin in Japan.
The Arcade Archives version of Pop ’N Bounce is released today (Thursday March 12, 2026) on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
Unlike most Arcade Archives releases of late, there is not a corresponding Arcade Archives 2 release of the game for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Pop ’N Bounce/Gapporin is yet another relative obscurity that’s been plucked from the Arcade Archives by Hamster Cororation, giving a whole new generation of retro game fans the opportunity to play this forgotten title.
