Red Pippy is a new pixel art platformer from developer Magnific Studios and retro specialist publishers Ratalaika Games. It’s out now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, priced at $4.99. Set across 60 challenging platforming levels, players will help the plucky little bird in his journey to learn how to be a great flyer. Red Pippy has a classic 8-bit aesthetic featuring bright, bold pixel art and that all-important chiptune soundtrack.
With each level, Pippy learns new skills as he navigates vibrant and perilous environments, jumping across platforms and overcoming obstacles that bring him closer to his ultimate goal. From the trailer, we can see there seems to be a lot of variety in the different moves to execute, as well as varied levels to tackle. There also seems to be some precision platforming sections that will please those looking for a challenge. It’s great to see Ratalaika Games continue to support smaller indie developers by publishing another retro-inspired title.
