RogueCraft DX Heading to Steam

Roguecraft DX, the expanded version of Badger Punch Games’ turn-based roguelike for Amiga, Roguecraft, has previously seen release on number of predominantly retro formats. We’ve previously reported on releases of the game for Amiga, MEGA65 and Game Boy Color, and for Evercade and Spectrum Next, and now, the game’s publisher, Thalamus Digital, has announced that Roguecraft DX’s next journey will be onto Steam.

The Steam page for Roguecraft DX describes the game thusly: “a casual yet challenging turn-based roguelike, crafted for fans of classic dungeon crawlers and inspired by Lovecraftian horror. Explore procedurally generated dungeons with mysterious potions, scary chickens, and secret rooms waiting to be discovered!”

The Steam version of Roguecraft DX will update the game’s aspect ratio from the original 4:3 to a more modern display-friendly 16:9 widescreen.

The system requirements for the Steam version of Roguecraft DX have been listed as follows: “OS: Windows 7 (SP1+), Windows 10 and Windows 11; processor: 1GHz or faster; memory: 4 GB RAM; graphics card: DX10, DX11, DX12 capable; storage: 500 MB available space, ” so nothing too hefty will be required to run the game, and it will also be compatible with Xbox controllers, but as you might expect for a game whose release date is still TBC, Steam Deck compatibility is still yet to be confirmed.

While no release date for the Steam version of Roguecraft DX, you can wishlist the game now.

We wonder which formats Roguecraft DX will venture onto next? Could we also see the game on modern consoles? Considering its success thus far, we wouldn’t be surprised…
