Ruffy and the Riverside is a new retro-inspired platformer from developer Zockrates Laboratories. The game is being published by Phiphen Games and is expected to be released on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch in early 2025. A new trailer has been launched to coincide with the Mix Fall Showcase 2024 and shows players what they can look forward to in this lovingly hand-drawn platformer.
Ruffy is the Chosen One who wields magic powers that enable him to swap abilities via a clever copy-and-paste gameplay feature. Ruffy can turn ice into lava or waterfalls into vines, ride hay bales and perform many other moves in this open-world adventure. He will need to use all his powers if he is to take on the mischievous villain Gnoll who wants to destroy the World Core and throw Ruffy’s home of Riverside into chaos.
The game will also include a lively cast of characters that help Ruffy on his adventure including both 3D and 2D gameplay similar to Super Mario Odyssey. The world features lots of puzzles, platform sections, various collectables, seven different regions to explore as well as action, combat and customizable options.
