Scion, a 1984 shoot ‘em originally released by Seibu Kaihatsu, has been confirmed as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated arcade classics, following on from last week’s release of Midnight Landing, on which we previously reported.
According to publisher Hamster Corporation, “the game is set in Crystal Heaven, a sprawling supercity built in multiple layers. Your mission is to rescue your captured kin trapped within the city’s core. Fight your way down from the upper levels, tearing through each layer as you advance toward the enemy’s stronghold deep within!”
The Arcade Archives release of Scion will include a choice of three modes: original mode, which plays just like the arcade original; and hi score mode; and caravan mode, in which players compete against other players’ scores worldwide. Via online rankings.
The Arcade Archives 2 version of Scion will also offer an additional mode in the form of time attack mode, which is focused around how quickly the player can finish the game, rather than on scores.
The releases will also offer quality of life improvements, such as difficulty and display settings, button remapping, rapid-fire options, the ability to create multiple save files at any time, and even a rewind function to undo your last move.
The Arcade Archives version of Scion will be released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 tomorrow (October 30th, 2025), priced at $7.99 (or local equivalent).
Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version of Scion will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99 (or local equivalent). And as usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo Switch 2 for $2.99, and purchasers of the Arcade Archives version on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on PlayStation 5 for $2.99.
