Secrets of the Burrow: Vixoria’s Quest is a 3D platformer inspired by the classics from the genre’s golden age. It’s scheduled to release on PC next year, but the brains behind the exciting title, Foxboy Productions, have revealed how they spent six months building a fully playable demo to show off the game to publishers. The studio then took it to Paris Games Week, one of Europe’s largest gaming events, where it was played by audiences of all ages to an overwhelmingly positive reception.
The game’s visual identity draws from classic Disney animated films of the 1970s through 1990s, with bold, expressive character animation and painterly, layered environments designed to evoke the feel of a living, hand-crafted world. Secrets of the Burrow: Vixoria’s Quest is currently in active pre-alpha development, targeting a 2027 release on PC and console.
Key features in Secrets of the Burrow: Vixoria’s Quest:
Dual-Character Gameplay: Switch between Princess Vixoria and Sir Foxalot, each with distinct abilities. Vixoria excels at acrobatic traversal and puzzle-solving; Foxalot masters the RPM combat system. Characters follow each other through parkour sequences using cooperative AI, keeping both heroes in play at all times.
RPM Combat System: A momentum-driven melee system inspired by bullet-hell design. Dodge enemy projectiles, build kinetic energy through movement, and strike at precisely the right moment. Fast, fluid, and unlike anything currently in the 3D platformer space.
Parkour Traversal: Fluid, acrobatic movement through a fully interconnected forest world — from waterfall basins and canyon rifts to crystalline cave labyrinths.
Classic Disney Aesthetic in 3D: Bold, expressive character animation set inside painterly, layered environments. A world that feels hand-crafted and alive, inspired by classic animated films of the 1970s through 1990s.
Story-Driven Adventure: A heartfelt single-player narrative following two mismatched heroes who clash, bicker, and grow closer as the fate of their kingdom hangs in the balance.
