Most gamers searching through the second-hand Xbox 360 titles at a local store or online wouldn’t give a passing thought to picking up a Sing It title. But occasionally the world of retro collecting throws up some strange anomalies, and one particular Sing It title has just sold for £4,600, which is over $6,000. The game in question is a PAL, or European copy of Disney Sing It High School Musical 3 Senior Year, a game that would only cost a few dollars if bought in North America on NTSC-U format.
This isn’t an isolated incident, with many examples of seemingly common games selling for thousands. One of the more notable titles is the European versions of Lakers vs. Celtics, a game that is very rare as it never made it to store shelves after the initial production run. The Sega Genesis version cost just a few dollars to buy, but the elusive PAL Mega Drive copies sell for over $10,000 when they crop up for sale. We also see these huge numbers with certain copies of NES titles that have minor differences from the main print run.
