Pixel Art Space Sim Space Haven Has Blasted Out Of Early Access

Space Haven is an isometric pixel-art spaceship colony simulation from developer Bugbyte Ltd that was originally released on Steam Early Access six years ago. Following a combined 10 years of development, updates, and content packs, Space Haven has finally been completed and formally released. The game has garnered over 5,000 positive reviews on Steam, and to celebrate has a 40% discount running for the next two weeks.

Since entering Steam Early Access in 2020, Space Haven has grown into one of the genre’s most ambitious sci-fi colony simulations, earning more than 700,000 sales while evolving through major content updates, gameplay systems, and community-driven improvements. Now launching as Version 1.0, the game delivers the complete survival sandbox experience, inviting players to lead a ragtag crew of civilians on a desperate search for a new home among the stars.

Set in a universe where Earth has fallen into collapse, Space Haven combines deep colony management, emergent storytelling, and spaceship construction into a sprawling sci-fi simulation where every decision matters. Players can build and customise ships tile-by-tile, manage oxygen, power, temperature, and hazardous gases, while balancing the physical and emotional needs of their crew as they journey across a procedurally generated galaxy.

Every crew member is fully simulated, with unique skills, traits, moods, relationships, and psychological states that can dramatically impact life aboard the ship. Stress, hunger, injuries, fear, and even interpersonal conflict all shape the unfolding stories created during each playthrough. From desperate last stands against alien infestations to emotional space burials for fallen crew members, Space Haven is built around unpredictable emergent moments, where survival is never guaranteed.

Beyond ship management, players can engage in tactical ship-to-ship combat, explore derelict vessels through away missions, trade or fight with factions across the galaxy, and defend their crew against hostile pirates, cultists, slavers, androids, and terrifying alien lifeforms. Dynamic systems and procedural generation ensure no two journeys unfold the same way.
