Spectrum Next designer announces big updates for batch 3

With the wonderful news of a new Spectrum Next game, UrbX Warriors hitting Kickstarter recently, there is more good news for fans of the modern version of an old classic. Henrique Olifiers, the brains behind the smash hit Spectrum Next computer, has announced that a new batch of the systems will be heading for a new crowdfunding campaign on the 17th of July 2025. And what’s more, there is a big update to the device for fans to look forward to.

In a statement, Olifers said. “With this third (and likely final) campaign, we hope to expand the community even more in order to make it better for game and app devs to be rewarded for their work: the more people with Nexts in their hands, the more stuff gets made for us all.”

The specifics of the new updates will be announced when the campaign goes live next month, but a few breadcrumbs have been dropped to whet Speccy fans’ appetites. The main feature is several new cores that will “turn the Next into a definitive machine for all things Sinclair heritage.” There was also news that a new Commodore 64 core is in the works. Time will tell how that goes down with the hardened Speccy Next owners, but hey, we’re all adults now…right? We’ll be sure to keep our readers updated on this exciting new adventure in the Spectrum Next journey.
